Through my earlier years, I really struggled to find what I was passionate about. Sure, there were things I really enjoyed like sports, being outdoors and various hobbies, but nothing that truly moved me.

However, that all changed when I went on my first international trip to China where I experienced culture, architecture, food, and people that were all unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Life was so different for them and so became my outlook on the very small world I had previously known. Immediately, I became fixated with learning and experiencing other cultures to where I became completely consumed. Traveling fueled my soul and quite literally gave me the energy I was craving. This was the passion I had been missing.

So of course, it only made sense that during my university years I was magnetically drawn to the Spanish international student, and in May 2021 we packed up our lives (and our golden, Milo) and moved across the Atlantic to Madrid, Spain.

With this blog, I’ll be sharing what it’s like being an American living abroad along with all the nuances that go with it- culture shocks, traveling tips, life in Spain and all the fun things in between!
